2. Overview — what data we access

To provide recommendations and widget functionality, the app needs limited access to the store data. We only request the minimum scopes required to run the app. Data types we access may include:

• Store information (shop domain, shop name)
• Product metadata (titles, descriptions, tags, images, collections)
• Blog posts and blog metadata (titles, body, tags, published date)
• Theme assets (only when you enable widget injection for display)

We do not access payment card details or any merchant customer passwords. We only request read access to the items above unless you explicitly enable features that require write access (we will ask and document any such permission).

3. How we use the data

We use the data to:

• Generate related product recommendations based on tags, collections, and behavior.
• Show relevant blog posts next to product pages or blog posts.
• Render widgets and sections in the storefront (theme modifications only if enabled).
• Provide analytics within the app dashboard (clicks, impressions) if you enable them.
• Perform diagnostics and debugging when you report an issue.

4. Data retention & deletion

Data fetched from your Shopify store is retained for as long as your app installation is active. When the app is uninstalled, we remove all merchant-specific data from our systems within 30 days unless required otherwise by law. We may retain aggregated, anonymized statistics (for product improvement and performance metrics) that do not identify any individual merchant or customer.

5. GDPR, CCPA and data subject rights

If you are an EU resident (or any other data subject with similar rights), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@topwebexpert.com.

We support Shopify's GDPR webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) and will respond to review requests from Shopify in accordance with their policies.

6. Use of cookies and tracking

The app may use lightweight tracking to measure widget impressions and clicks. These are used for analytics and to improve recommendation quality. Tracking may use cookies or local storage only for the merchant's dashboard sessions. You can opt out by disabling analytics inside the app settings.

7. Third parties & service providers

We may use third-party services to host the app, send emails, or provide analytics. These providers only receive the data necessary for their service and are contractually bound to protect your data. Examples include hosting providers, email delivery services, and error monitoring tools. We do not sell your store's data to third parties.

8. Billing

If you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled through Shopify's billing system (or via the billing flows you accept inside the app). We do not collect or store your payment card details — Shopify handles all payment processing.

9. Security

We follow industry-standard security practices such as HTTPS encryption in transit, secure credential storage, and least-privilege access controls. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system can be perfectly secure — please contact us immediately if you suspect any security issue.

10. Demo store & reviewer access

If you are a Shopify reviewer, we provide a demo store to validate the app. Demo store credentials included in the submission are used only for review and will not be published or used for other purposes.

11. Data deletion on uninstall

When a merchant uninstalls the app from their Shopify store, we trigger our uninstall workflow that removes merchant-specific configuration and cached data within 30 days. If you need immediate removal, contact support@topwebexpert.com.

12. Children's privacy

Our app is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will provide notice on our website or via email to the contact address provided in your developer settings.
